The Little Vintage Shop by FilipinaZ Officially Opens at SPATIO, Opus Mall
The Little Vintage Shop (TLVS) by FilipinaZ officially opened its new and expanded home at SPATIO, Opus Mall, Quezon City on September 8, 2026, bringing together fashion, sustainability, philanthropy, and the shared commitment of women helping women. The store launch, held from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, marked a new chapter for TLVS as it takes its advocacy-driven retail concept into a premier retail destination under Robinsons Retail.
TLVS was founded in 2023 by Zonta Club of Makati and Environs members Penny Lopez-Katigbak and Mel Asuncion, together with Frannie Lopez-Manotoc and Anna Lynn de Silva-Garcia, as a response to Zonta International’s call for Climate Justice — zeroing in on the impact of fashion waste. The shop was created to demonstrate fashion circularity, giving new life and new homes to clothes and other items, while net proceeds fund the care and recovery of sexually abused young girls below eighteen years old. Its philosophy is simple but powerful: give a second chance to clothes, and give young women a chance at a new beginning.
More Than Fashion
In her opening message, Carmina Sanchez Jacob — a Zonta Club of Makati & Environs member, Vice President and Founding Member of the Philippine Fashion Coalition, and a veteran of 33 years in lifestyle and fashion — welcomed guests and emphasised the importance of sustainable fashion, noting that in an era defined by fast-paced consumption, choosing vintage is a revolutionary act. She highlighted how vintage fashion allows us to honour history, appreciate craftsmanship, make conscious choices, and reduce our environmental footprint, and recognised how TLVS reflects Zonta’s commitment to women’s empowerment, fair trade, sustainability, and meaningful community projects.
A Second Chance for Everything — and Everyone
Zontian Anna Lynn Garcia, one of the early collaborators, shared that beyond giving fashion a second life, there is a more important reason for the shop’s existence: recognising that everything, and everyone, deserves a second chance. Every purchase, she explained, carries a purpose — helping women find possibilities, rebuild their lives, and change the trajectory of their future. She invited everyone to shop with a purpose, donate with a purpose, and become part of that shared purpose, particularly in supporting the women and girls of Marillac Hills.
Early collaborator and upcycler Zontian Frannie Manotoc described TLVS as much more than a fashion store. The initiative contributes one hundred percent of its net earnings toward the psychological care of girls and women who have experienced sexual abuse. As she expressed it, the story comes full circle: pre-loved pieces receive a second chance, while women receive an opportunity for healing and a new beginning.
Co-founder Mel Asuncion emphasised that TLVS transforms the journey of preloved fashion into a journey of hope and opportunity for women, noting that what is most touching to her is seeing everyone work together to deliver for the cause.
Sustainability in Action
For co-founder Penny Katigbak, sustainability is deeply connected to Zonta’s mission. She reminded everyone that change can begin with something as simple as cleaning one’s closet and donating, promoting the shop, volunteering, or creating collaborations that transform discarded materials into something beautiful and useful. Through upcycling and circular fashion, TLVS gives clothing and materials a second life while creating a lasting social purpose.
A Celebration of Women and Community
The ribbon-cutting ceremony brought together distinguished guests and Filipina women leaders who share the vision of sustainability, creativity, entrepreneurship, and community service. The ribbon-cutting was led by Robina Gokongwei-Pe, Chairwoman of Robinsons Retail, one of the largest retailers in the Philippines and a pioneer of department store retailing in the country; Maritess Pineda, Founder of ArteFino and Past President of the Zonta Club of Makati & Environs; Ma. Asuncion “Marcy” Kohchet-Chua, President of the Zonta Club of Makati & Environs; Anna Sobrepeña, award-winning media practitioner, former editor of Lifestyle Asia, writer and author; and Samantha Bernardo, member of the Zonta Club of Makati & Environs, beauty queen, multimedia host, advocate for health and community empowerment, and spokesperson for Malaria-Free Philippines. Their presence reflected the intersection of business, fashion, creativity, advocacy, and women’s leadership.
A Fun and Meaningful Launch
Guests enjoyed refreshments from Milkyway, inspiring messages, a special presentation by the TLVS team, and the much-anticipated Treasure Hunt, where participants searched for hidden SPATIO and TLVS gift certificates. Beyond the celebration, the launch introduced guests to the shop’s curated collection of pre-loved clothing, accessories, shoes, bags, vintage treasures, upcycled furniture, and reimagined clothes by Estela Enchanted, Happy Andrada, and Byzantine Time Traveller — all offered at very accessible prices.
The new TLVS space is now open daily to the public at the upper levels of SPATIO, Opus Mall, Bridgetowne Destination Estate, Quezon City.
The Little Vintage Shop reminds us that sustainability is not simply about what we wear — it is about the choices we make and the lives we touch.
